dc.descriptionCurrently there are a large number of causes or factors of university desertion worldwide, so the objective of this article was to analyze in detail the factors of academic desertion in the Faculty of Pedagogy of the Technical University "Luis Vargas Torres" of Esmeraldas, in order to provide relevant information for the implementation of effective prevention and student retention measures. The study was developed with a descriptive, qualitative and quantitative design. The study population consisted of all students enrolled in the Faculty of Pedagogy of the "Luis Vargas Torres" Technical University of Esmeraldas during the academic period II semester 2022, a follow-up and study was carried out directed at 20 teachers and 180 students. Stratified random sampling was used to select a representative sample of students from different semesters and study programs. The technique used was the structured survey to collect data on the factors of academic dropout. And as a conclusion, it is important that the Technical University "Luis Vargas Torres" of Esmeraldas, as a higher education institution, is concerned with providing favorable institutional conditions for students from low socioeconomic levels, so that they can have a better academic performance.en-US
dc.descriptionActualmente existen una gran cantidad de causas o factores de la deserción universitaria a nivel mundial, por lo que el objetivo del presente artículo fue analizar en detalle los factores de la deserción académica en la Facultad de Pedagogía de la Universidad Técnica "Luis Vargas Torres" de Esmeraldas, con el fin de proporcionar información relevante para la implementación de medidas efectivas de prevención y retención estudiantil. El estudio se desarrolló con un diseño descriptivo, cualitativo y cuantitativo. La población objeto de estudio consistió en todos los estudiantes matriculados en la Facultad de la Pedagogía de la Universidad Técnica "Luis Vargas Torres" de Esmeraldas durante el período académico II semestre 2022, se procedió a realizar un seguimiento y estudio dirigido a 20 docentes y180 estudiantes. Se utilizó un muestreo aleatorio estratificado para seleccionar una muestra representativa de estudiantes de diferentes semestres y programas de estudio. La técnica empleada fue la encuesta estructurada para recopilar datos sobre los factores de la deserción académica. Y como conclusión, es importante que la Universidad Técnica "Luis Vargas Torres" de Esmeraldas, como institución de educación superior, se preocupe por brindar condiciones institucionales favorables para los estudiantes de bajos niveles socioeconómicos, de modo que puedan tener un mejor rendimiento académico.es-ES
