dc.descriptionThe objective of this study is to characterize the level of development of communication skills in children aged 4 to 5 years at the 26 de Febrero Educational Unit, located in the Paute canton, Azuay province, Ecuador. The study was framed within a quantitative approach and an empiricist paradigm, applying the inductive method; it is descriptive type, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design, and involved a census sample of 25 students in the Early Childhood Level 2. The research technique is observation, applied using a structured rating scale comprising 12 indicators aligned with Ecuador’s 2025 Prioritized Curriculum, assessing the dimensions of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, which was validated by experts. The results show that 56% of the evaluated population is at a low level of development, 32% at a medium level, and only 12% has reached the high level. The greatest deficiencies are evident in written production and early reading, where 68% and 60% of children, respectively, do not meet the basic skills expected for their age. The study concludes that there is a need to strengthen teacher support and family involvement to ensure comprehensive development and future academic success in General Basic Education.en-US
dc.descriptionEl objetivo de esta investigación es caracterizar el nivel de desarrollo de las habilidades comunicativas en niños de 4 a 5 años de la Unidad Educativa 26 de Febrero, ubicada en el cantón Paute, provincia del Azuay, Ecuador. Se enmarcó en el enfoque cuantitativo, paradigma empirista, aplicando el método inductivo; es de tipo descriptivo, con diseño no experimental y transversal, abordando una muestra censal de 25 estudiantes del subnivel Inicial 2. La técnica de investigación es la observación, aplicada mediante una escala de estimación estructurada en 12 indicadores alineados con el Currículo Priorizado 2025 de Ecuador, evaluando las dimensiones hablar, escuchar, leer y escribir, que fue validado por expertos. Los resultados exponen que 56% de la población evaluada se sitúa en un nivel de desarrollo bajo, 32% en nivel medio y apenas el 12% ha alcanzado el nivel alto. Las mayores deficiencias se evidencian en la producción escrita y la lectura inicial, donde el 68% y el 60% de los infantes, respectivamente, no cumplen con las destrezas básicas para su edad. Se concluye sobre la necesidad de fortalecer la mediación docente y la corresponsabilidad familiar para garantizar el desarrollo integral y el éxito académico futuro en la Educación General Básica.es-ES
