dc.descriptionOBJECTIVE: to present the results of our experience with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) with the Volumetric Modulated Arc Technique (VMAT) in multiple brain metastases (MBM). METHOD: a retrospective review of 17 patients with multiple brain metastases was carried out during the period 2011-2022, the technique used was the Modulated Volumetric Arc Technique with a single isocenter. RESULTS: A total of 17 patients with multiple brain metastases who met the inclusion criteria established for this study, treated with SRS with VMAT with and without prior Holocranial Radiotherapy, were analyzed. The average age was 62.2 years, 59% of the patients studied presented a Karnofsky score greater than 90, the range of predominant lesions was from 3 to 6 metastatic lesions, representing 76% of the sample. Extracranial disease was present in slightly more than 50% of the patients, the most frequent primary tumor was lung 76.4%, the predominant location was supratentorial and infratentorial with 52.9% of the sample. Only 1 patient had a lesion >4mm, none of the patients involved received surgical treatment or underwent biopsy of metastatic lesions; It should be noted that of the patients involved in the study, only 1 had a second course of SRS. CONCLUSION: SRS with VMAT is an important modality in the management of patients with MBM that shortens treatment times and allows the protection of adjacent brain tissue with disease control.en-US
dc.descriptionOBJETIVO: presentar los resultados en nuestra experiencia con radiocirugía estereotáctica (RCE) con Técnica de Arcos Volumétricos Modulados (TAVM) en metástasis cerebrales múltiples (MCM). MÉTODO: Se realizó una revisión retrospectiva de 17 pacientes con metástasis cerebrales múltiples durante el periodo 2011-2022, la técnica utilizada fue Técnica de Arcos Volumétricos Modulados con un solo isocentro. RESULTADOS: Se analizaron un total de 17 pacientes con metástasis cerebrales múltiples que cumplen con los criterios de inclusión establecidos para este estudio, tratados con RCE con TAVM con y sin Radioterapia Holocraneana (RTH) previa. La edad promedio es de 62.2 años, el 59% de los pacientes estudiados presentó un karnofsky superior a 90, el rango de lesiones predominantes fue de 3 a 6 lesiones metastásicas, representando un 76% de la muestra. La enfermedad extracraneal estuvo presente en poco más del 50% de los pacientes, el tumor primario más frecuente fue pulmón 76,4%, la localización que predominó fue supra e infratentorial con 52.9% de la muestra. Solo 1 paciente tuvo una lesión > 4mm, ninguno de los pacientes involucrados recibió tratamiento quirúrgico ni se sometieron a biopsia de las lesiones metastásicas; se debe destacar que, de los pacientes involucrados en el estudio, solo 1 tuvo un segundo curso de RCE. CONCLUSIÓN: la RCE con TAVM es una modalidad importante en el manejo de los pacientes con MCM que acorta tiempos de tratamiento y permite la protección del tejido cerebral adyacente con control de la enfermedad.  es-ES
