dc.descriptionIntroducción:La COVID-19 es una enfermedad infecciosa causada por el virus SARS- CoV-2.El tratamiento antiviral utilizado es causante de manifestaciones bucales como estomatitis, úlceras bucales y xerostomía.Las altas dosis de corticosteroides, podrían favorecer la aparición de infecciones fúngicas como candidiasis oral. Objetivo:Determinar la información que poseen los odontólogos sobre manifestaciones bucales asociadas a terapia farmacológica empleada para la COVID-19.Metodología:Se llevó a cabo una investigación de tipo descriptiva con diseño de campo. Se encuestó a 70 odontólogos generales del sector privado del Municipio Libertador estado Mérida. La técnica de recolección de datos empleada fue la encuesta, utilizando como instrumento un cuestionario escrito constituido por ocho preguntas que tenían respuestas de selección simple, múltiple y desarrollo corto, las preguntas estabanformuladas en base a la relación de las manifestaciones bucales y la terapia farmacológica administrada para la COVID-19.Fue autoadministrado a través de Google Forms®. Los resultados se ilustraron en tablas y gráficos de frecuencia mediante Microsoft Excel® y SPSS®.Resultados:El 54% indicó que las manifestaciones bucales pueden derivar de la terapia farmacológica, justificando que existen medicamentos que pueden provocar hiposalivación, xerostomía, gingivitis, aftas y alteración de la microbiota bucal.Además, 49% considera la dexametasona como principal fármaco asociado con aparición de manifestaciones bucales.Conclusiones:La mayoría de odontólogos encuestados están informados respecto que la terapia farmacológica contra la COVID-19 puede ser un factor determinante en la aparición de manifestaciones bucales, tales como xerostomía y estomatitis.Recibido: 5-04-2022 Aceptado: 26-05-2022es-ES
dc.descriptionIntroduction: COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.The antiviral treatment used is the cause of oral manifestations such as stomatitis, mouth ulcers and xerostomia. High doses of corticosteroids could favor the appearance of fungal infections such as oral candidiasis. Objective: To determine the information that dentists have about oral manifestations associated with pharmacological therapy used for COVID-19. Methodology: A descriptive research with a field design was carried out. 70 general dentists from the private sector of the Libertador Municipality, Mérida state, were surveyed. The data collection technique used was the survey, using as an instrument a written questionnaire consisting of eight questions that had answers of simple, multiple selection and short development, the questions were formulated based on the relationship between oral manifestations and pharmacological therapy administered for COVID-19. It was self- administered through Google Forms®. The results were illustrated in tables and frequency graphs using Microsoft Excel® and SPSS®. Results: 54% indicated that oral manifestations can derive from pharmacological therapy, justifying that there are medications that can cause hyposalivation, xerostomia, gingivitis, aphthae and alteration of the oral microbiota. In addition, 49% consider dexamethasone as the main drug associated with the appearance of oral manifestations. Conclusions: Most of the dentists surveyed are informed that pharmacological therapy against COVID-19 can be a determining factor in the appearance of oral manifestations, such as xerostomia and stomatitis.en-US
