LA PROMOCIÓN DE LA LITERATURA ANGLOCARIBEÑA A TRAVÉS DEL GÉNERO DE LA RESEÑA EN LA PRENSA DE TRINIDAD Y TOBAGO

Abstract

En esta ponencia se analiza la promoción de la literatura anglo-caribeña, a través del género de la reseña, en la prensa de Trinidad y Tobago. Metodológicamente se adopta la perspectiva de análisis crítico del discurso desarrollada por Van Dijk (1999, 2001), aplicada a un corpus de reseñas literarias publicadas en el diario Trinidad Express entre 2012 y 2014. La categorización de los textos seleccionados reveló que estas reseñas poseen una estructura lineal, con un discurso descriptivo y argumentativo organizado de principio a fin, característico de la tradición periodística anglosajona. Asimismo se evidencia que la promoción de la lectura desde la prensa trinitaria, a diferencia de lo que ocurre en otros países del Caribe, enfatiza el conocimiento intrínseco de la obra más que los aspectos anecdóticos de la vida de los escritores.

In this meeting the promotion of Anglo-Caribbean literature is analyzed, through the gender of the review, in the press of Trinidad and Tobago. Methodologically the perspective of critical analysis of the discourse by Van Dijk (1999-2001) is adopted. It is applied to a corpus of published lyrical reviews in the Trinidad Express journal between the years 2012 and2014. The categorization of those selected texts revealed that those reviews hold a structure on-line with an organized descriptive and argumentative discourse from the first to the last line, characteristic from the Anglo-Saxon journalistic tradition. Likewise the promotion of reading from the Trinitarian press proves that, unlike what occurs in the others Caribbean countries, it emphasized the intrinsic knowledge of the book reviewed more than the anecdotic aspects regarding to the life of the authors.
