EL TRÓPICO AMERICANO COMO VÍNCULO ELOCUENTE ENTRE ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT Y ANDRÉS BELLO (1799-1826): VIAJES, NATURALISMO Y POESÍA

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es el de examinar aquellos elementos que desde una mirada histórico-cultural pueden ofrecer luces sobre la influencia directa que tuvo el escenario natural y humano del Trópico en los escritos científicos y poéticos del Barón Alexander von Humboldt y de Andrés Bello; considerando el valor que encierran las elocuentes palabras de ambos autores y la cercanía que subyace entre sus textos. Las dos miradas que se intentan cruzar acerca del escenario tropical — una interna y otra externa— permiten replantearse, más allá de sus obvias diferencias, las cercanías que la palabra puede generar entre los pensadores que prefiguraron en Hispanoamérica un mundo posible. Pensar en sus escritos viajeros es reencontrarse con el lado más humano de ambos autores, sobre todo porque a su paso dejaron hondas huellas que fortalecen la historia del pensamiento latinoamericano.

The objective of this work is to analyze elements that from a historical-cultural perspective can help the lights on the direct influence that the natural and human scenario of the Tropic had on the scientific and poetic articles of Alexander von Humboldt and Andrés Bello respectively; considering the value of the eloquent words of both authors and the closeness that lie between their texts. The two perspectives that are opened in the tropical context - one internal and the other external - allow us to rethink, beyond the differences, the proximity that the word can general among the thinkers who foreshadowed a possible world in Latin America. To think of their travelers writings is to reconnect with the other more human of both authors, above all because in their wake they left the marks that strengthen the history of Latin American thought.
