Los “viajes a la inversa” en Amargo y dulzón de Michaelle Ascencio

Abstract

Este trabajo busca poner en diálogo a Amargo y dulzón (2002), de Michaelle Ascencio con las reflexiones teóricas de la autora sobre las novelas antillanas. La escritora explora los mismos temas que encuentra en autores haitianos: el viaje como representación del exilio y el regreso a la isla natal. La novela posee visos autobiográficos, nos interesa leerla como búsqueda identitaria, a partir de la estructura misma de la novela y de la construcción del personaje principal, Altina, alter ego de la autora. Interesan también los vasos comunicantes con otras novelas caribeñas que comparten el tema del regreso al país natal.

This work seeks to put in dialogue Amargo y dulzón (2002), by Michaelle Ascencio with the author's theoretical reflections on Antillean novels. The writer explores the same themes she finds in Haitian authors: the trip as a representation of exile and the return to the island of her birth. The novel has autobiographical visions, we are interested in reading it as an identity search, based on the very structure of the novel and the construction of the main character, Altina, alter ego of the author. The communicating vessels are also interested in other Caribbean novels that share the theme of returning to their native country.
