Actitud y conocimiento del personal odontológico hacia pacientes VIH/SIDA. Una revisión sistemática

Abstract

Introducción: El VIH es un virus de inmunodeficiencia humana que destruye selectivamente algunos de los mecanismos celulares como linfocitos T CD4+ con los que el organismo humano se defiende frente a infecciones y tumores, posterior a ello aparece el Síndrome de Inmunodeficiencia Adquirida (SIDA), dado que hasta la fecha no se han encontrado artículos de revisión sistemática sobre el tema de estudio, es oportuna la realización de una que lo aborde. El objetivo de esta investigación es determinar la actitud y el conocimiento del personal odontológico hacia pacientes con VIH/SIDA con base en una revisión sistemática de la literatura. Metodología: La búsqueda se realizó a través de PubMed, ScienceDirect; Biblioteca Virtual de Salud y Google Académico. Se seleccionaron estudios de corte transversal. Resultados: Se verificó que el personal odontológico muestra un buen nivel de conocimiento en lesiones y medios de transmisión, a su vez existe una actitud de rechazo hacia este tipo de paciente infectado, se observa además la implementación de bioseguridad en las consultas. Conclusiones: Con base en la evidencia científica los estudios indican que el personal odontológico tiene un nivel de conocimiento adecuado sobre el VIH/SIDA y una actitud de rechazo motivado a distintos factores como miedo al contagio.

Introduction: HIV is a human immunodeficiency virus that selectively destroys some of the cellular mechanisms such as CD4 + T lymphocytes with which the human organism defends itself against infections and tumors, after which the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) appears. That to date no systematic review articles have been found on the subject of study, it is opportune to carry out one that addresses it. The objective of this research is to determine the attitude and knowledge of dental personnel towards patients with HIV / AIDS based on a systematic review of the literature. Methodology: The search was carried out through PubMed, ScienceDirect; Virtual Health Library and Google Scholar. Selecting cross-section items. Results: It was verified that the dental staff shows a good level of knowledge in injuries and means of transmission, in turn there is an attitude of rejection towards this type of infected patient, it is also observed the implementation of biosecurity in the consultations. Conclusions: With Based on the scientific evidence, the studies showed that dental personnel have an adequate level of knowledge about HIV / AIDS and an attitude of motivated rejection to various factors such as fear of contagion.
