Adquisición formal e informal de las lenguas en procesos migratorios: comparativa entre el caso de inmigrantes y refugiados

Abstract

El aumento de los flujos migratorios ha supuesto un incremento en el interés del aprendizaje de la segunda lengua como medio de integración en el país de destino y de residencia. Sin embargo, la experiencia migratoria entera implica una ampliación del repertorio lingüístico del migrante, de manera más o menos consciente, y que comprende niveles de competencias variados y a veces parciales. En este trabajo se ha pretendido indagar sobre los contextos y los procesos de aprendizaje de las lenguas durante todo el proceso migratorio de inmigrantes y refugiados. Para ello, a través de una etnografía, se han analizado las relaciones con el aprendizaje de las lenguas durante la migración, atendiendo a los varios momentos del recorrido migratorio. Concretamente se aborda el papel del aprendizaje de las lenguas en la migración hacia un país, así como la estricta relación entre experiencia migratoria y aprendizaje de las lenguas. Por otro lado, hemos tratado de comparar los repertorios lingüísticos y las trayectorias migratorias de refugiados e inmigrantes. Al respecto hemos evidenciado que la experiencia migratoria de los refugiados los lleva a tener un repertorio lingüístico tendencialmente más amplio que el de los inmigrantes.

The growth of migration flows has increased the interest in second language learning as a means of integration in the country of destination and residency. However, the whole migration experience implies an expansion of the linguistic repertoire of the migrant, in a more or less conscious way, which also includes varied and sometimes partial competence levels. In this study, we try to investigate the contexts and processes of language learning during the migration process of immigrants and refugees. To do so, we analyse through an ethnography the relations with the language learning during the migration, taking into account the various moments of the migration path. Specifically, we address the role of language learning during the migration to a country, as well as the high correlation between migration experience and language learning. On the other hand, we try to compare the linguistic repertoires and the migration trajectories of refugees and immigrants. In this regard, we show that the migration experience of the refugees makes them possess a linguistic repertoire tendentially more extensive than that of immigrants.
