dc.description.abstract | Objetivo: establecer la relación entre el cateterismo vesical y las infecciones del tracto urinario en la UCI del IAHULA de Mérida durante Febrero- Junio 2017. Métodos: fue un estudio tanto descriptivo, con diseño de campo, de corte transversal, como de cohorte o de seguimiento, prospectivo y analítico. La población muestral estuvo constituida por 36 profesionales de enfermería (según criterios de exclusión) que laboraban en la UCI del IAHULA y por 7 pacientes que ingresaron a la unidad, seleccionados de manera intencional. A enfermería, se le aplicó una encuesta dicotómica y a los pacientes se les realizó uroanálisis antes y después del cateterismo vesical. Resultados: en relación al conocimiento de enfermería: el 80,5% consideró incorrecto que el cateterismo vesical consiste en introducir un catéter desde el meato uretral hasta la próstata; 94,4% eligió la respuesta correcta sobre la asepsia del meato urinario en la mujer; el 97,2% mencionó correcto que después del cateterismo vesical se debe regresar el prepucio a su posición para evitar la parafimosis; 83,3% contestó incorrecto que la cistitis aguda es la infección limitada al parénquima renal; 77,7% desconocía el tiempo para el lavado de manos; 83,3% indicó incorrecto que el reflujo de orina hacia la vejiga se evita elevando la bolsa colectora; para un 69,4% era correcto el uso de la tira reactiva como prueba diagnóstica. En cuanto a los pacientes: tenían edades entre 16 a 56 años, con una media de 33 años; 71% masculinos; el urocultivo postcateterismo vesical de los pacientes 1, 2, 3 y 6 reportó Candida spp. Conclusión: existe una relación entre el cateterismo vesical y las ITU en pacientes que ingresaron a la UCI del IAHULA de Mérida durante Febrero- Junio 2017. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Objective: To establish the relationship between bladder catheterization and urinary tract infection in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of IAHULA from Mérida during February-June 2017. Methods: it was a descriptive study, with field design, cross-sectional, as well as a cohort or monitoring study, prospective and analytical. The sample population was constituted by 36 nursing professionals (according to exclusion criteria) that worked in the ICU of IAHULA and also by 7 patients who entered the unit, chosen intentionally. To nursing, it was applied a dichotomous survey and a urinalysis was made to the patients before and after bladder catheterization. Results: Regarding nursing knowledge: the 80.5% considered incorrect that bladder catheterization consists in introducing a catheter from the urethral meatus to the prostate, 94.4% chose the correct answer about the asepsis of the urethral meatus on women, 97.2% mentioned correctly that after bladder catherization the foreskin must be returned to its position in order to avoid paraphimosis, 83.3% answered incorrectly that acute cystitis is the limited infection to the renal parenchyma, 77.7% ignored the time for washing hands, 83.3% indicated incorrectly that the reflux of urine to the bladder is avoided lifting the collection bag, for a 69.4% it was correct the use of the test strip as a diagnostic test. Regarding patients: they had ages between 16 to 56 years, with an average age of 33 years, 71% male, the urine culture after bladder catheterization of patients 1, 2, 3, and 6 reported Candida spp. Conclusion: there exist a relationship between bladder catheterization and urinary tract infections in patients who entered to the UCI of IAHULA from Merida during the period of February-June 2017. | en_US |
