dc.description.abstract | Introducción: Los pacientes pediátricos críticos tienen mayor susceptibilidad a la desnutrición durante su estancia intrahospitalaria, insuficiente aporte nutricional provocan alteraciones en el crecimiento a corto y largo plazo, aumento en la morbimortalidad, infecciones, función intestinal disminuida, mayor dependencia de respiración asistida, aumento de la estancia hospitalaria y mayores costos en la atención. Objetivo: Evaluar el soporte nutricional brindado a pacientes pediátricos críticamente enfermos del Hospital Universitario de Los Andes Mérida-Venezuela. Metodología: Se estudiaron 53 pacientes ingresados en la unidad de cuidados críticos pediátricos, se realizó evaluación antropométrica, del soporte nutricional y del aporte energético y de macronutrientes. Resultados: La edad promedio fue de 3,57 ± 4,74. El tiempo de hospitalización entre 8-15 días. El 26,4% presento diagnósticos gastrointestinales y 28,9% enfermedades respiratorias. El 41,5% se encontraba desnutrido El consumo promedio de calorías fue de 73,7% en relación a lo indicado, 67,9%consumió calorías en rango deficiente, 83% de los pacientes recibió proteínas de manera inadecuada, 90.6% consumió carbohidratos fuera de rangos ideales (p=0,0001). Conclusión: El 86,8% de los niños no recibió el soporte ideal. Un aporte calórico inadecuado tanto por déficit como por exceso trae consecuencias negativas en el estado físico y neurológico del niño críticamente enfermo. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Critical pediatric patients have increased susceptibility to malnutrition during their hospital stay, insufficient nutritional contribution they provoke alterations in the growth in the short and long term, increase in morbidity and mortality, infections, decreased bowel function, greater reliance on assisted breathing, increased hospital stay and higher costs in care. Objective: To evaluate the nutritional support provided to critically ill pediatric patients of the Hospital Universitario de Los Andes Mérida-Venezuela. Methodology: we studied 53 patients admitted to the pediatric critical care unit, is He conducted evaluation anthropometric, nutritional support and the energy intake and macronutrient.
