Introducción: La evaluación nutricional de pacientes pediátricos hospitalizados es fundamental para determinar su estado de salud al ingreso y egreso; y así evitar el deterioro nutricional del paciente durante la estancia hospitalaria.
Objetivo: Determinar el requerimiento calórico y de macronutrientes en los pacientes de pediatría de un hospital de tercer nivel, Mérida, Venezuela. Junio –agosto 2017.
Método: Estudio descriptivo de corte transversal, en 117 entre 1 m y 18 años. A todos se les tomó medidas antropométricas de peso, talla, bajo normas estandarizadas, para diagnóstico nutricional al ingreso. Se determinó requerimientos nutricionales en base al sexo, edad y la patología presente. Además, se valoró el aporte de las dietas hospitalarias y se determinó la adecuación a los requerimientos de cada paciente.
Resultados: La prevalencia de desnutrición de 32%; la desnutrición leve 23,7% y zona critica 39,5% crónica 36,8. Los aportes de calorías y de macronutrientes aportados por la institución y el cuidador eran deficientes en relaciona al ideal (p=0.001) excepto para el grupo de los lactantes en el renglón de las proteínas.
Conclusiones: Las dietas hospitalarias no se adecuan en la distribución de valor calórico total, ni a los requerimientos por grupos de edad. Se recomienda realizar protocolos de evaluación y soporte nutricional. Control de ingesta para conocer el aporte real ingerido de los pacientes. Method: Descriptive study of cross section, in 113 between 1 m and 18 years. Took all anthropometric measures of weight, height, under standardized rules for nutritional diagnosis at admission. Determined nutritional requirements based on sex, age and present pathology. In addition, assessed the contribution of hospital diets and the adaptation to the requirements of each patient was determined.
Results: The prevalence of malnutrition from 32%; 23.7% mild malnutrition and area review 39.5% chronic 36.8. The contribution of calories and nutrients provided by the institution and the caretaker were deficient in relates to the ideal (p = 0.001) except for the Group of infants in the line of the proteins.
Findings: Hospital diets do not fit in the distribution of total caloric value, nor requirements by age groups. Procoll is recommended assessment and nutritional support. Control of intake for ingested real input from patients.
