Detección de Cambios y Análisis de la Fragmentación de la Cobertura Forestal: un indicador de sostenibilidad Municipio Gondomar, Galicia, España

Abstract

Se evalúan cambios en la superficie forestal así como su fragmentación, mediante procesamiento digital de imágenes satelitales, para el Municipio Gondomar, Galicia, España. Se obtuvieron los siguientes resultados, en el año 1990 la superficie boscosa era de 2.819,36 has, el año 2000 disminuyó a 2.461,02 has, en 2011 pasa a 2.390 has, representando un 36,76 %, 32,08 %, y 31,16 % respectivamente de la superficie del municipio. En cuanto a la fragmentación, se calcularon los siguientes índices: Número de Parches, para el año 1990 había 453 parches de bosque, el 2000 con 451, y 455 en 2011; Densidad de Parches: 6,07 para el año 1990, 6,04 el 2000, y 6,09 en el 2011; Índice del Parche Mayor, para el año 1990 representaba 23,65 %, para el 2000 14,12 %, y finalmente para el 2011 12,51 %; y Área Media de Parches, el año 1990 era de 6,22 has, 5,46 has el ´ 2000, y 5,25 has el 2011. Al analizar los resultados se concluyó que la cobertura forestal no solamente disminuyo netamente del año 1990 al 2011, además sufrió un proceso de fragmentación, lo que implica que los beneficios del ecosistema bosque se ven disminuidos, así como los efectos negativos de su fragmentación se ven potenciados

Changes in the forest area are evaluated as well as their fragmentation, through digital processing of satellite images, for the Gondomar Municipality, Galicia, Spain. The following results were obtained: in 1990 the forest area was 2,819.36 hectares, in 2000 it decreased to 2,461.02 hectares, in 2011 it decreased to 2,390 hectares, representing 36.76%, 32.08%, and 31.16% respectively of the surface of the municipality. As for the fragmentation, the following indices were calculated: Number of Patches, for the year 1990 there were 453 patches of forest, 2000 with 451, and 455 in 2011; Patch Density: 6.07 for the year 1990, 6.04 the 2000, and 6.09 in the 2011; Index of the Major Patch, for the year 1990 it represented 23.65%, for the year 2000, 14,12%, and finally for the 2011, 12,51%; and the Average of Patches, the year 1990 was6.22 hectares, 5.46 hectares in 2000, and 5.25 hectares in 2011. When analyzing the results, it was concluded that the forest cover not only decreased sharply from 1990 to 2011 In addition, it suffered a process of fragmentation, which implies that the benefits of the forest ecosystem are diminished, as well as the negative effects of its fragmentation are enhanced
