Abstract

El presente artículo plantea la relación entre la literatura y el cine a través de la adaptación, centrándose en los elementos esenciales para considerar que una obra deriva de otra. Esta es una cuestión muy importante, ya que se pueden generar derechos de propiedad intelectual. Podemos establecer el origen de una obra a partir de otra, como fuente de inspiración. Por ello, hay que centrarse en la historia y en los personajes y acontecimientos que conforman la diégesis, para establecer la relación de dependencia. El ejemplo tomado es La ventana indiscreta donde se parte de un texto literario breve que sirve de referencia, pero que experimenta ya en la fase de guion una transformación sustancial, modificando el carácter de algunos personajes, añadiendo otros y finalmente modificando el sentido del relato. Aún en este caso, la obra cinematográfica deriva de la novela. Y fue necesario adquirir los derechos de la novela.

This article presents the relationship between literature and cinema through adaptation, focusing on the essential elements to consider that one work derives from another. This is a very important issue, as intellectual property rights can be generated. We can establish the origin of one work from another, as a source of inspiration. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on the story and the characters and events that make up the diegesis, to establish the relationship of dependency. The example taken is The Indiscreet Window, which starts from a brief literary text that serves as a reference, but which already undergoes a substantial transformation in the script phase, modifying the character of some characters, adding others and finally modifying the meaning of the story. Even in this case, the cinematographic work derives from the novel. And it was necessary to acquire the rights to the novel.
