Ética y estética de la existencia en Michel Foucault

Abstract

El siguiente estudio tiene como objetivo comprender la estrecha relación entre ética y estética en la obra de Michel Foucault (1926-1984). Se trata de asumir el compromiso de hacer de la propia vida una obra de arte. En primer lugar, se examina la noción de arte de vivir como influjo del pensamiento de Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900); en segundo lugar, se analizan sus primeras posiciones en torno a una hermenéutica de sí; en tercer lugar, se revisa el tránsito de las prácticas de autoconocimiento al cuidado de sí en la tradición grecorromana; y finalmente, se expone cómo el mandato ético del cuidado de sí toma la forma de la parrhesia, teniendo como base la filosofía crítica de Kant y sus consecuencias para la reflexión ética contemporánea.

The following paper aims to understand the close relationship between ethics and aesthetics in the work of Michel Foucault (1926-1984). It is about making the commitment to make your own life a work of art. In the first place, the notion of art of living as an influence of the thought of Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) will be examined; in the second place, its first positions around a hermeneutic of self will be analyzed; in third place, the transition from self-knowledge practices to self-care in the Greco-Roman tradition will be reviewed; and finally, it will be exposed how the ethical mandate of care for the self takes the form of parrhesia, based on Kant's critical philosophy and its consequences for contemporary ethical reflection.
