Informe sobre la producción científica de Venezuela en revistas iberoamericanas de acceso abierto en redalyc.org

Abstract

Uno de los principales objetivos del Laboratorio de Cienciometría redalyc-fractal (LabCrf ®) es contribuir a la construcción de herramientas que permitan una nueva mirada a la manera de producir, comunicar y evaluar la investigación científica en los países del “sur global”, donde el escaso acceso a información especializada no sólo limita las posibilidades de hacer ciencia, sino también de analizarla y evaluarla. El presente informe ofrece los resultados de un nuevo indicador para analizar la ciencia iberoamericana: el Perfil de Producción Científica, metodología que permite comparar la Producción (p) a escala de país, institución y área del conocimiento, así como identificar las características de la Producción en Colaboración (pc). Gracias a esta metodología puede responderse a preguntas como: • ¿Cuáles son las características de la dinámica de la producción de los científicos venezolanos? • ¿Cuáles son las instituciones que aportan más a la producción científica venezolana, en qué áreas del conocimiento y cuáles son las tendencias que presentan? • ¿Qué revistas constituyen los principales escaparates para dar a conocer los resultados de investigación de los científicos venezolanos, por área del conocimiento y sus tendencias en el periodo analizado? • ¿Cuáles son los patrones de colaboración científica por área del conocimiento y su variabilidad en el periodo analizado? y, más concretamente, • ¿Cuáles son los resultados de las políticas de incentivos a la producción científica, tanto institucionales como nacionales, y su correspondencia con las tendencias que presentan el resto de países de América Latina?

One of the main objectives of redalyc-fractal (LabCrf ®) Laboratory of Scientometrics is to contribute to the construction of tools that allow a new look on the way in which scientific output is produced, disseminated and assessed in the countries of the “global south”, in which the poor access to specialized information not only limits the possibilities to make science, but also to analyze and assess it. In this report we offer the results of a new indicator to analyze IberoAmerican science: the Profile of Scientific Output. A methodology that allows comparing Scientific Output (p) at a scale of a country, institution and field of knowledge, as well as identifying the characteristics of Output in Collaboration (pc); by using this methodology it is possible to answer questions such as: • Which are the characteristics of the dynamics of the output of Venezuelan scientists? • Which are the institutions that contribute the most to Venezuelan scientific output, in which fields of knowledge? And which are the tendencies they present? • Which journals are the main showcases to disseminate the research results of Venezuelan scientists, by field of knowledge and tendencies along the analyzed period? • Which are the patterns of scientific collaboration by field of knowledge and their variability along the analyzed period? And in short, • Which are the results of the policies, both institutional and national, that foster scientific output and their correspondence with the tendencies presented by the rest of Latin American countries?
