brillo. Finalmente, se utilizó la técnica de regresión
para obtener la correlación entre temperatura y
vegetación. Se concluyó que existe interdependencia
lineal dado que su coeficiente fue negativo. The change in land use and urban growth have
activated the phenomenon of Urban Heat Islands,
which is the accumulation of heat due to thermal
properties of building materials causing an increase in
urban temperature. The objective of this study was to
characterize this phenomenon, and to detect its
relationship with the loss of vegetation in a Colombian
city using Landsat images. Coverage discrimination
techniques were used, and a mono-channel algorithm
that corrected the brightness temperature. Finally, the
regression technique was used to obtain the
correlation between temperature and vegetation. It
was concluded that there is linear interdependence
since its coefficient was negative.
