Biblioteca accesible y su incidencia en el rendimiento académico. Caso: Universidad Estatal de Milagro (Ecuador)

Abstract

La presencia de una biblioteca accesible en la Universidad Estatal de Milagro tiene especial importancia en el rendimiento académico de los discentes con discapacidad visual que cursan las carreras de Psicología y presente trabajo es dar a conocer el interés de los estudiantes no videntes de contar con señaléticas en Braille en las estanterías de libros de la biblioteca para la búsqueda de información y desarrollo de las actividades académicas. Se utilizaron los métodos cualitativos, cuantitativos y descriptivos, aplicándose una encuesta de 11 preguntas a 27 personas con discapacidad. Los resultados se presentan a modo de análisis y reflejan la necesidad de conservar señaléticas en las estanterías de la biblioteca que faciliten la búsqueda del acervo bibliográfico a este grupo de atención prioritaria.

The presence of an accessible library at Milagro State University is especially important in the academic performance of students with visual disabilities in the careers of Psychology and Social Communication. The objective of the study of this research work is to make known the interest of blind students to have Braille signage in the bookshelves of the library for the search of information and development of academic activities. Qualitative, quantitative and descriptive methods were used, applying a survey of 11 questions to 27 people with disabilities. The results are externalized by way of analysis and reflect the need to conserve signage on the shelves of the library that facilitate the search of the bibliographic collection to this group of priority attention.
