Inteligencia verbal - no verbal y factores asociados, en niños escolarizados de 4 y 5 años de edad

Abstract

Esta investigación estima la inteligencia verbal y no verbal en niños (as) de 4 y 5 años de Instituciones Educativas de Sincelejo (Colombia) y su relación con factores socioculturales. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, bajo el enfoque cuantitativo, de corte transversal, con análisis de relación de variables, en el que participaron 115 preescolares, estudiados por medio del Test Breve de Inteligencia de Kaufman (K-BIT) y la aplicación de un Cuestionario de información sociocultural y demográfica. Los resultados evidencian que solo el 2% de la población calificó en el nivel muy alto (niñas), el resto presentó niveles de inteligencia medio-alto, medio, medio-bajo y bajo en una misma proporción, encontrando tras la aplicación del estadístico T de Student que no hay diferencias estadísticamente significativas (p=0,143) entre ellos. En este estudio se logró evidenciar que para el grupo poblacional explorado existe asociación estadística entre cada uno de los factores socioculturales relacionados con la inteligencia con un alto nivel de significancia estadística (p=0,000).

This research estimates verbal and non-verbal intelligence in children 4 and 5 years old from Educational Institutions in Sincelejo (Colombia) and their relationship with sociocultural factors. A descriptive study was carried out, under the quantitative, cross-sectional approach, with analysis of the relationship of variables, in which 115 preschoolers participated, studied through the Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test (K-BIT) and the application of a Questionnaire sociocultural and demographic information. The results show that only 2% of the population qualified at the very high level (girls), the rest presented mediumhigh, medium, medium-low and low intelligence levels in the same proportion, finding after the application of the T statistic Student's that there are no statistically significant differences (p = 0.143) between them. In this study it was possible to show that for the explored population group there is a statistical association between each of the sociocultural factors related to intelligence with a high level of statistical significance (p = 0.000).
